Asahi Intecc started in 1976 as a manufacturer of custom stainless steel cables solutions and monofilament stainless wire, including small wire rope, strands and cables, plastic coated miniature cable, and miniature stainless cable assemblies for both medical device and non-medical applications.  Asahi Intecc is delighted to work with ASTM-A-313 or other global technical standards (EN, DIN, JIS) to produce precision stainless cable for your unique application.

 

 

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STAINLESS WIREROPE AND STAINLESS CABLE

 

The term “wirerope” or “wire rope” is used interchangeably with “stainless cable”, “stainless cord”, or “miniature cable”, but actual wire ropes are defined as such with a minimum diameter of 3.6mm or 3/8”, whereas Asahi Intecc precision stainless cables are typically at or below 3mm outside diameter cables, such as 1/64” (0.0156”), 1/32” (0.0313”), 3/64” (0.0469”), 1/16” (0.0625”), 5/64” (0.0781”), 7/64” (0.1094”), or expressed in mm.  (please refer to configurations and dimensions) 

 

 

MECHANICAL APPLICATIONS FOR STAINLESS  PRECISION CABLE

 

Mechanical applications of stainless steel strands and cables include sliding, actuating, deflecting a tip, push-pull, multi-axis motion control, remote actuation, and mechanical power transmission in conjunction with gears and pulleys. Medical device applications for small wire ropes include endoscopic, guidewire, catheter, orthopaedic,  prosthetic hand actuation, robotic surgical systems, or other minimally invasive delivery systems or minimally invasive surgery (MIS). Non-Medical applications for precision cables include automotive and aerospace interiors and controls, consumer goods (including miniature stainless cables for home electronics, baby buggies, leisure products, gaming and pachinko machines, fishing lines, home and garden cables, and plastic coated cables for sporting goods wearables and equipment), sliding doors, windows, and vents, pulling stainless wire ropes for industrial imaging, borescopes, remote visual inspection, fiber optic cable and industrial hose protection, office imaging, printing, and scanning equipment, and 3-D printing and 3-D motion control, including robotic mechanical movement and mechatronics.

 

 

 

ASAHI INTECC HIGH TENSION LOW STRETCH CABLE AND STAINLESS CABLE ASSEMBLIES

 

Our core competency with our in-house drawn and formed wirerope is significantly higher breakload and fatigue life characteristics relative to the diameter and configuration of other wirerope manufacturers, as device and system designers strive to save space while maintaining push-pull and flexibility. 

Additional advantages of Asahi Intecc stainless cables include a high-tension process which further improves the breakload by 10% to 20% depending on the stainless cable diameter; a clean material surface finish on the stainless cable which is extremely easy to solder; swaging, coating, and masking for your specific durability, abrasion resistance, and cable assembly requirements.

 

 

STAINLESS STEEL CABLE ASSEMBLIES

Eyelets, threaded screws, or balls may be crimped, laser welded, soldered, pressed, caulked, or swaged onto the ends of Asahi Intecc stainless steel cables to optimize mechanical performance and comply with space requirements. Asahi Intecc engineers carefully review both initial tension and initial cable elongation, and wire rope elongation after bending a number of cycles as well as the breakload to help clients select the correct terminal and stainless cable configuration.

Asahi Intecc welcomes industrial, mechanical, and medical cable assembly projects ranging in size from miniature cable assemblies 0.004” to 3mm (1/64” to 1/8” with coating), and in some cases larger stainless cable assemblies ranging from 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm (1/8”, 3/16”, 1/4”, etc) depending on the configuration and function. Cable assembly aplications include automotive, office equipment, doors and windows, and medical or industrial machinery.

 

A stainless steel cable assembly may be sprayed, dipped, or extruded with PTFE, Nylon, and other coatings for your particular abrasion-resistance, lubricity, low coefficient of friction, and long-term durability requirements. Asahi Intecc can precisely mask the ends of the coated stainless steel cable assemblies in order to attach in-house various iron (FE), stainless steel (SUS, SS), Aluminum (AL), Copper (Cu), and other metallic finishes.

STAINLESS STEEL DRIVE CABLE ASSEMBLIES

If push, pull, flexibility, and single or bi-directional rotation are required in your mechanical cable design, Asahi Intecc offers stainless steel mechanical drive cable assemblies. With diameters from approximately 3/16” to 1/4” the expanded size range of Asahi Intecc drivecables can meet the needs of both device and equipment designers and manufacturers. Stainless steel drive cable assemblies are available in PTFE, Nylon and other sprayed, dipped, extruded coatings per the requirements of your unique application.
